Profile
Quite comfortably, Bangladesh's ace batsman in the current line-up. Tamim is a vital component of Bangladesh's top order, is technically correct and has a wide repertoire of shots, but is particularly strong through the off side. He shot to fame with an attacking half-century against India in the 2007 World Cup; his charge down the track to smash Zaheer Khan out of the ground being the standout feature of that knock. Since then, he's cemented his place in the side with success in both Tests and in ODIs. He missed the series against New Zealand at home due to injury but hit form against Zimbabwe in Bangladesh's series win to shape up well for the World Cup.
Strengths
A technique suited to both formats and an ability to open up or restrain himself if the situation demands. Strong on both sides of the wicket, Tamim's a fluent run-scorer and can provide early momentum to his team's innings.

    Expert view
"Explosive opening left hand batsman with a tag 'No Fear', can be very dangerous in the first 10 overs, loves to dominate from the very first ball and has a great hand/eye combination. Who can forget his innings vs. India in the World Cup 2007 (Trinidad), was at his belligerent best when he went down the wicket and hit Zaheer Khan for a huge 6 which landed on the second tier."- Athar Ali Khan, former Bangladesh batsman
